What Is an Apparel Mockup?
A custom apparel mockup is a digital representation of your finished garment. It allows you to see how your logo, artwork or design will appear on a t-shirt, hoodie, sweatshirt, polo or cap before printing or embroidery begins.
Mockups help answer important questions, including:
- How large should the artwork be?
- Where should it be positioned?
- Which garment colour works best?
- Will embroidery or screen printing achieve the desired look?
- Does everyone involved approve the design before production?
By reviewing a mockup before manufacturing, costly mistakes and unexpected surprises can be avoided.

Artwork Specifications
Vector based images like those made using Illustrator or Inkscape, either an .ai, .eps, .pdf file format is recommended. If you are working with a pixel based image like those made with Photoshop or Canva, .psd, .pdf, .tiff, .png or jpeg format is recommended, as long as the artwork is in the size to be printed and the resolution is at least 300dpi to avoid pixelation.
Checklist
- Ensure fonts & lines have been converted to outlines
- Provide solid coated Pantone codes for printing and/or Embroidery Thread Colour Codes for embroidery
- Ensure artwork is cropped to specific size and ready to print.
- Ensure your artwork elements are grouped together.
When your artwork is print ready, please email the artwork to your sales contact eg. [email protected], if your artwork is under 12MB. If they are too large you can share using file transfer options – dropbox, wetransfer, one drive or google drive.
